Ethylene propylene diene (EPDM)

Ethylene propylene diene (EPDM) rubber is a terpolymer of ethylene, propylene and non-conjugated diolefin, which began commercial production in 1963. Worldwide consumption is 800,000 tons per year. The most important characteristic of EPDM is its superior oxidation resistance, ozone resistance and erosion resistance. As EPDM belongs to the polyolefin (PO) family, it has excellent vulcanization characteristics. Among all rubbers, EPDM has the lowest specific gravity and can absorb a large number of fillers and oils with little impact on characteristics, so it can be made of low-cost rubber compounds.
